Canadian Certified Counsellor

Educational & Professional Background

I’m a Canadian Certified Counsellor (C.C.C.) with a Master of Counselling (M.C., 2024) from the University of Lethbridge. I also bring a strong foundation in education, having earned a Master of Education (M.Ed., 2015) and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed., 1987) from the University of Calgary. In addition to my counselling credentials, I’m an active member in good standing with both the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Alberta Teachers’ Association. Therefore, I uphold the professional and ethical standards set by these organizations in all areas of my work.

My path to counselling was shaped by decades of work in education. In that role, I focused on helping students who struggled with learning, behaviour, and mental health challenges. In other words, I saw firsthand how complex and interconnected these issues can be. That experience taught me to listen carefully, respond with compassion, and collaborate to find meaningful solutions—skills I carry into every counselling session today.

Credentials, Associations, and Ethical Standards

As a member in good standing of both the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Alberta Teachers’ Association, I strictly adhere to the ethical codes and professional standards set out by each. These guidelines are more than policy—they are principles I live by. That is to say, I approach every session with confidentiality, integrity, and a deep commitment to your emotional well-being. Most importantly, I stay current in my training and uphold the highest levels of professionalism in my work. At Lifestage Counselling & Wellness, your trust matters to me. Likewise, I take care to ensure that every interaction is respectful, supportive, and in line with the values of responsible, person-centred therapy.

My Journey and Values

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked closely with young people whose personal challenges often spilled into the classroom. Consequently, I developed a strong belief in the importance of understanding the full picture of a person’s experiences. Most importantly, I learned to hold space for stories that are difficult, complicated, or even painful—without judgment.

I continue to be inspired by the courage of people who choose to explore their lives through counselling. Above all, I believe that you are the expert in your own story. My job is to walk alongside you, help you notice patterns, and support you in discovering new ways forward. To clarify, I take a person-centred, respectful approach that honours your goals and pace.

Outside the Office

Outside of my counselling work, I’m a proud mom to three adult children. I live in Calgary with my life partner and our energetic dog, who ensures I get plenty of walks in the local parks. In the warmer months, you’ll often find me kayaking—there’s something deeply calming about being on the water. Likewise, I enjoy quieter hobbies like knitting and spending time in nature, which help me stay grounded and present.

My Counselling Approach

Counselling is a collaborative process. That is to say, you’re in the driver’s seat, and I’m here to support and guide you toward the change you want to make. I use an integrated approach to therapy, which means I draw from different evidence-based practices to meet your unique needs and preferences.
